You don't need to be an analyst to understand our data

spotlightonspend has been designed to make highly complex financial information accessible to the general public. The web application sits on the public bodies own website and provides both an overview of key areas of spend and fine detail of spending with individual suppliers.

How does it work?

Public bodies who want to make their purchase data transparent engage Spikes Cavell to analyse and categorise their financial information. spotlightonspend is a web-based platform that then reads the data and presents it in an easy to understand format on the organisation’s own site. You can find more information on how the data is processed here.

Easy to understand classification

The invoice data supplied by public bodies is processed into categories that people will recognise, for example 'building supplies' or 'taxis'. All the data stored uses the same categories. This makes it easy to see clearly what has been purchased and it makes it much easier to compare the spending behavior of multiple organisations.

See who suppliers the public sector

spotlightonspend makes it quick and easy to see who is supplying goods and services. You can see all suppliers who received over £500 a year for the goods or services they supply to a public organisation. From utilities to IT, from newspapers to stair lifts, you can see it all clearly with spotlightonspend.
