What's new in the latest release of spotlightonspend (v1.3)

Our dedicated development team is working hard to add new features and functions to the spotlightonspend platform. Here's an 'at-a-glance summary of what's in the latest release that was posted to the Cloud on 30th November 2010:

The most significant change has been the general re-design of the publically accessible pages.

If you haven't already, take a look at one of the Buying Entities published within the Who's In section.

For the General Public

  • Re-design and updated appearance of all pages within the Buying Entities published site.
  • Updated information on the Buying Entity profile with Spend in Summary to illustrate spend in terms of actual average values, as well a comparison to the average spend as a percentage difference from the average (i.e. does the Buying Entity spend more/less (+/- ) than the average as a percentage).
  • Implementation of a clear and understandable function for "back stepping" to previously viewed pages within the Categorised Supplier pages
  • The inclusion of Categorised Supplier data at a monthly level.
  • Where published, the introduction of summary Contract information for those contracts owned (or put in place) by the Buying Entity.

For Public Bodies

  • Update to the Silverlight component (from the customer/user installed version to v4.0) due to significant development in the graphical representation of charts and tables.
  • Re-design and updated appearance of all pages within the Buying Entities published site.
  • Additional functions to configure the published pages.
  • The ability to publish monthly data both in terms of Categorised Supplier spend and Data Download files.
  • Graphical representation of Categorised Suppliers via the drill-through charts.
  • The ability to publish Contracts owned in a summarised format.
  • An option to configure access to supporting narrative for all accessible pages.
  • The ability to publish back-dated data as desired, or required.
  • Further refinement to the redaction algorithms to automatically redact payments made to individuals (for example foster carers and vulnerable adults in local government) or where national security, personal security or foreign relations might be compromised.
  • Inclusion of a link to The National Archives download page.

For 'Armchair Auditors'

  • Re-design of the raw data download section on spotlightonspend and the inclusion of a link to the key contacts section as an initial step in identifying the appropriate individual to direct any data-specific questions to.
  • Where published, the inclusion of a Contract download file (this is a single file that will be continually topped up as the Buying Entity introduces, updates and/or secure new contracts with Suppliers of Goods and Services).
  • Inclusion of a link to The National Archives download page.
